Recap: Villanova vs. Towson

Villanova, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - James Bell scored 20 points as the Villanova Wildcats handled the Towson Tigers, 78-44, at the Pavilion.

Bell shot 7-of-12 from the field and 3-of-3 at the charity stripe for the Wildcats (3-0). JayVaughn Pinkston and Ryan Arcidiacono each notched a dozen points and Darrun Hilliard added another 10.

Jerrelle Benimon had a team-high 11 points for the Tigers (3-1) and also secured 6 rebounds. Although Benimon was the team's only double-digit scorer, John Davis contributed nine points and eight rebounds off the bench.

Towson turned the ball over 18 times, leading to 21 points for the Wildcats, and shot only 38.1 percent in a sloppy first-half performance. Nova went into halftime up 42-20.

The second half was even less kind to the Tigers, who made only 9-of-34 attempts from the field, at an even worse 26.5 percent.

The Wildcats shot 40.7 percent for the game, good enough to take care of the disorganized Tigers who only eight of their 19 free-throw attempts. Villanova, which led by as many as 39, dominated in points off turnovers, 27-1.
