Recap: Providence vs. Marist
Providence, RI (SportsNetwork.com) - Bryce Cotton posted a double-double with 28 points and 11 assists as the Providence Friars coasted past the Marist Red Foxes to a 93-48 victory at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.
Cotton went 8-for-15 from the field and a perfect 11-for-11 from the free- throw line for the Friars (3-0) as they earned their third win in as many games to begin their season. Kadeem Batts also recorded a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds and was efficient in the process, hitting on 9- of-11 attempts from the field. LaDontae Henton and Tyler Harris were also in double figures with 21 and 13 points, respectively.
Khallid Hart supplied the majority of the offense for the Red Foxes (0-4) and was their only player in double figures with 21 points, shooting 8-for-13 from the field, including 3-of-4 from 3-point range.
The Friars ran away with the game in the first half, and took a 47-17 lead into the intermission after knocking down 55.9 percent of their field goal attempts in the opening 20 minutes. Marist converted only 24 percent of its shots from the floor and missed all five of its 3-point tries in the first half.
Providence continued its dominating performance in the second half leading by as many as 51 points with just under six minutes remaining. The Red Foxes could not rally back as they went just 5-of-13 at the charity stripe after the break.
The Friars shot an even 50 percent for the game, while the Red Foxes shot a dismal 32.1 percent and made only half of their 20 free throw attempts. Providence also scored 22 points off turnovers in the very one-sided affair.Game Notes
