Recap: Xavier vs. Georgetown

Cincinnati, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Semaj Christon led the way with 18 points on 9-of-12 from the floor, as the Xavier Musketeers dismissed the Georgetown Hoyas, 80-67, in a Big East Conference bout at the Cintas Center.

Dee Davis added 17 points and seven assists for Xavier (14-4, 4-1 Big East), winners of nine of its last 10 games. Isaiah Philmore chipped in 14 points, Justin Martin scored 10 and Matt Stainbrook contributed seven points, eight rebounds and six assists.

For Georgetown (11-5, 3-2), Markel Starks paced all scorers with 19 points while adding seven assists and five rebounds as well. D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera was also impressive with 18 points, while Reggie Cameron poured in 13.

Georgetown ran out to a 42-29 lead at intermission after outshooting Xavier from the field in the opening 20 minutes, 54.8 percent to 41.9 percent.

The script was flipped after halftime, with the Musketeers shooting 57.7 percent and the Hoyas regressing to 37.5 percent. Georgetown held a 17-point lead with 15 minutes left to play, but Xavier ended the contest on a blistering 44-14 run to pull away.

The Musketeers shot 18-of-22 from the free-throw line on the evening, while Xavier was just 5-of-8 at the stripe.
