Recap: Seton Hall vs. Butler

Newark, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - Khyle Marshall tallied 13 points as the Butler Bulldogs defeated the Seton Hall Pirates, 64-57, in a Big East Conference bout at the Prudential Center.

Elijah Brown provided a spark off the bench for Butler (12-9, 2-7 Big East) with 12 points in 18 minutes. Kameron Woods posted 11 points and eight rebounds while Andrew Chrabascz also scored 11 points. The Bulldogs managed to snap a two-game losing streak despite receiving only nine points on 3-of-10 efficiency from the floor from leading scorer Kellen Dunham.

Fuquan Edwin paced the Pirates (12-9, 3-5) with 20 points and also racked up six steals. Brandon Mobley recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds while Eugene Teague netted 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field.

Butler knocked down 46.4 percent of its field goal attempts including 5-of-11 from 3-point range in the opening 20 minutes of the contest. Although the Pirates converted an even 50 percent of their shots from the floor in the first half, they went into the break trailing, 34-33.

Seton Hall was limited to 32.2 percent efficiency from the field in the second period. The Bulldogs also held the hosts to a 3-of-13 clip from beyond the arc after the break. Marshall made a layup with 1:06 remaining in regulation to break a 57-57 tie and the Bulldogs held the Pirates scoreless the rest of the way.

Butler outscored Seton Hall, 11-4, at the free-throw line and assisted 14 of its 23 made field goal tries.
