Recap: Butler vs. Marquette

Indianapolis, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Kameron Woods registered a double- double with 16 points and 14 rebounds as the Butler Bulldogs defeated the Marquette Golden Eagles in overtime, 69-57, in a Big East Conference clash at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

Khyle Marshall and Kellen Dunham each had 18 points for the Bulldogs (11-7, 1-5 Big East), as they snapped a five game losing streak.

Davante Gardner logged a double-double for the Golden Eagles (10-8, 2-3) with 17 points and 10 boards. Jamil Wilson and Derrick Wilson had 13 points apiece.

Marquette made 40 percent of its field goal attempts in the first half as it led 32-26 at the break. The Golden Eagles were able to attempt six more shots than the Bulldogs who converted on 45.8 percent of their attempts from the field.

Butler made only 31 percent of its field goal tries, while the Golden Eagles hit on a dismal 18.5 percent of their shots from the floor in the second half. With five seconds remaining in regulation, Jake Thomas was fouled with Marquette down by two. Thomas made both free throws to send the game to overtime after Dunham missed a 3-point attempt as time expired.

The Bulldogs started the extra session with a 11-2 run which allowed them to pull away and seal the victory. Butler outscored Marquette 20-8 in the bonus frame.

Despite losing, Marquette did a better job of scoring inside as they held a 28-12 advantage in the paint.
