Recap: Butler vs. NJIT

Indianapolis, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Khyle Marshall shot 8-of-10 from the floor and led all scorers with 21 points, as the Butler Bulldogs claimed a 66-48 win over the NJIT Highlanders in non-conference action at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

Rene Castro chipped in with 10 points in 19 minutes off the bench to help the Bulldogs (9-2) earn their fifth straight win.

Damon Lynn led the way with 11 points for the Highlanders (6-8), who suffered their fifth consecutive loss. Lynn connected on only 3-of-14 field-goal attempts and was the lone player in double figures for NJIT.

The Highlanders shot a dismal 6-of-29 (.207) from the floor in the opening half as they trailed by a 29-16 margin at intermission.

Butler continued to pull away behind 13 second-half points from Marshall, who shot 5-of-7 from the floor after halftime.

The Bulldogs held a 45-27 rebounding advantage for the game and also limited NJIT to 30-percent shooting from the field.
