The Boilermakers shot 51.6 percent from the field through the first 20 minutes of action, but at the same time converted only 5- of-11 at the free-throw line. With five minutes remaining in the second half the squads were again locked up, this time at 68-68, before Carter scored four straight points to put Purdue in the lead for good.

In a game that featured seven ties and five lead changes, the hosts made just 3-of-15 shots beyond the arc and 16-of-31 at the free-throw line.
