Recap: Old Dominion vs. West Virginia

Cancun, Mexico (SportsNetwork.com) - Eron Harris scored 19 points, leading four players in double figures, as the West Virginia Mountaineers captured a 78-60 win over the Old Dominion Monarchs in the Riviera Division of the 2013 Cancun Challenge.

Terry Henderson accounted for 14 points off the bench for the Mountaineers (5-1), followed by Juwan Staten with 13 and a game-high nine assists. Posting a double-double was Devin Williams with 12 points and a game-high 10 rebounds for WVU.

The Monarchs (4-2) were led by Aaron Bacote with 20 points and nine rebounds, although he shot just 2-of-8 behind the 3-point line and 8-of-21 from the floor overall. Dimitri Batten pitched in with 14 points.

Old Dominion led by a basket early in the first half, but the team ended up shooting just 33.3 percent from the field and a dismal 3-of-13 at the free- throw line through the first 20 minutes of action, en route to a 36-24 deficit at the break.

The Mountaineers opened up the offense in the second half with 62.5 percent accuracy from the floor, including 5-of-9 beyond the arc. Thanks to a 7-of-7 showing at the charity stripe after intermission, WVU was able to cruise to the 18-point win.

The Monarchs won the battle of the boards, 35-28, coming up with 16 rebounds at the offensive end of the floor, but that wasn't enough to help the squad overcome a disappointing 9-of-22 effort at the stripe.

Both teams will be back in action on Wednesday, with the Mountaineers matching up against the winner of the Saint Louis/Wisconsin battle, while ODU clashes with the loser.
