Recap: Purdue vs. Nebraska

West Lafayette, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Paced by 18 points from A.J. Hammons, the Purdue Boilermakers outlasted the Nebraska Cornhuskers, 70-64, in a Big Ten Conference clash at Mackey Arena.

Hammons shot 6-of-9 from the field and 6-of-7 at the free-throw line for Purdue (11-5, 1-2 Big Ten), which snapped a two-game losing streak. Ronnie Johnson added 14 points for the hosts.

For Nebraska (8-8, 0-4), losers of five in a row, Terran Petteway led all scorers with 19 points and added nine rebounds. Deverell Biggs and Ray Gallegos netted 10 points apiece in the setback.

Despite shooting just 38.2 percent from the field in the first half compared to 42.9 percent for Nebraska, Purdue carried a 35-32 lead into intermission by shooting 4-of-10 from 3-point range and 5-of-5 at the charity stripe in the opening 20 minutes.

The Boilermakers improved to 61.1 percent from the floor in the second stanza, and although the Cornhuskers held a three-point lead with under seven minutes to play, Purdue took control by reeling off an 11-0 run over the next five and a half minutes.

Purdue's bench outscored Nebraska's reserves, 28-20.
