Recap: Nebraska vs. Michigan

Lincoln, NE (SportsNetwork.com) - Derrick Walton Jr. got a layup to fall with 23 seconds to play to lift the Michigan Wolverines to a 71-70 victory over the Nebraska Cornhuskers in a Big Ten thriller at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

Glenn Robinson III finished with 19 points as the leading scorer for Michigan (11-4, 3-0 Big Ten), which has won four straight. Jordan Morgan tallied 15 points, Nik Stauskas chipped in 12 and Walton Jr. and Caris LeVert each totaled 10.

Terran Petteway paced Nebraska (8-7, 0-3), with 16 points, but was also guilty of a game-high six turnovers. Ray Gallegos hit 4-of-10 shots from beyond the arc to finish with 14 points. Deverell Biggs also scored 14 points and Walter Pitchford tacked on 12.

Michigan clung to a 33-30 lead at halftime after shooting 56.5 percent from the field in the opening period. Nebraska remained within striking distance by netting 5-of-11 shots from beyond the arc.

A 5-0 spurt from Nebraska pulled the teams even at 63-63 with 4:38 to play. Michigan would pull ahead three more times in the next three minutes only to have Nebraska even the score once again each time. Then, with the score knotted at 69-69, Petteway was fouled and split a pair of free-throws to push Nebraska ahead, 70-69 with 34 seconds left on the clock. The lead was short lived, with Walton nailing what turned out to be the game-winner on the other end. The Cornhuskers had two chances to win in the final seconds but both shots were off the mark.

Michigan had a 21-7 scoring advantage off of turnovers that proved to be too much for Nebraska to overcome. The game featured 10 ties and 11 lead changes.
