Recap: Kansas vs. Towson

Lawrence, KS (SportsNetwork.com) - Star freshman Andrew Wiggins scored 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting and the second-ranked Kansas Jayhawks rolled to an 88-58 win over the Towson Tigers.

Andrew White III had 13 points and Wayne Selden, Jr. added 12 for Kansas (4-0), which won its 66th straight home game against a non-conference opponent.

The Jayhawks ended the first half on a 47-11 run.

"We were down 5-2 and then got cranked up pretty good," said Kansas coach Bill Self. "The guys played with good energy. We were much better defensively, much more active blocking shots. It seems like we had hands everywhere."

The contest was the Battle 4 Atlantis opener for the Jayhawks, who will next play in the Bahamas against Wake Forest on Thanksgiving.

Jerrelle Benimon paced Towson (3-2) with 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

"Suffice to say they're pretty good," Towson coach Pat Skerry said of the Jayhawks. "You've got a special team here. They can beat you in a lot of different ways. They're obviously very well coached, they're deep, they're athletic. Unfortunately for us they were locked in tonight."

The first half was bookended by lengthy runs for the Jayhawks, who shot a sizzling 69.2 percent and limited Towson to 20.7 percent shooting.

Kansas scored 11 straight points during the opening five minutes and closed out the frame on an 18-0 surge. The Tigers were shut out over the final 6:18 and trailed 49-16 at the break.

The Jayhawks led by as many as 39 in the second half.
