Recap: Illinois vs. Ill-Chicago

Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Rayvonte Rice scored 28 points and had seven rebounds as the Illinois Fighting Illini defeated the Illiniois-Chicago Flames, 74-60, in a non-conference game at the United Center.

Tracy Abrams scored 16 points to go with four assists for Illinois (11-2). Joseph Bertrand added 14 points.

Kelsey Barlow led Illinois-Chicago (5-9) with 21 points and six assists. Marc Brown chipped in 12 points and Jordan Harks brought down nine boards.

The Flames started out hot by shooting 62.1 percent from the field and making 7-of-12 from beyond the arc in the first period of play. They took a 44-34 lead into the intermission. The Illini couldn't keep pace as they made 48 percent of their field goal attempts and only 2-of-7 from 3-point range.

The second half saw a major shift. Illinois shot 41.9 percent from the floor but the Flames shot a miserable 26.1 percent from the field. Illinois-Chicago missed all seven 3-point attempts in the second period and the Illini coasted by, outscoring the Flames 40-16 in the half.

Illinois played better inside, edging the Flames, 38-26, in points in the paint. The Illini were also able to capitalize on Illinois-Chicago's mistakes, outscoring them 12-2 in points off turnovers.
