Recap: Notre Dame vs. NC State

Notre Dame, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - T.J. Warren scored 17 points as the NC State Wolfpack upset the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 77-70, in an Atlantic Coast Conference battle at Purcell Pavilion.

Anthony Barber added 16 points for NC State (11-4, 1-1 ACC), which had lost two of three entering play. Desmond Lee and Ralston Turner each contributed 12 points and Jordan Vandenberg pulled in 11 rebounds.

Garrick Sherman posted 21 points and 18 rebounds for Notre Dame (10-5, 1-1), who fell flat after upsetting Duke last time out. Pat Connaughton hit 5-of-11 shots from beyond the arc to finish with 15 points and Eric Atkins chipped in 14 points.

Even though NC State shot 42.4 percent from the floor in the first half, compared to 50 percent by Notre Dame, the Wolfpack led, 39-36, at intermission. The difference came at the free-throw line, where NC State had a 9-4 scoring advantage.

Notre Dame really cooled off after the break, netting just 33.3 percent from the floor. NC State also faltered, shooting an even 40 percent, but it also sank 16-of-20 from the free-throw line to hold on.

Each team scored 34 points in the paint. NC State had a slight edge on the boards (39-37).
