Recap: George Washington vs. Miami-Florida

Fullerton, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Nemanja Mikic led five players in double figures with 16 points, as George Washington outlasted Miami-Florida, 71-63, in overtime in the opening round of the Wooden Legacy.

Maurice Creek picked up 15 points and Isaiah Armwood added 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Colonials (5-0), who take on Marquette in a Friday tourney semifinal.

Garrius Adams posted a game-high 17 points for the Hurricanes (3-3), while Rion Brown scored 16 with nine boards in defeat.

Joe McDonald's layup with three seconds left in regulation got the Colonials to the extra session, and once there, McDonald and Armwood hit back-to-back shots for a five-point edge. Brown hit two from the line for Miami, then Creek's triple and an Armwood shot provided GW a 69-61 edge.

Neither team led by more than four points in a tightly-played first half, and George Washington emerged with a 27-26 edge thanks to eight points from Mikic.

The Colonials took a 43-33 lead after a 13-3 burst early in the second half as Mikic converted from long distance, but the momentum swung back towards the Hurricanes, who closed to 49-47 on a triple from Adams which capped a 16-4 run.

Adams and Brown combined to go 4-for-4 from the charity stripe and Miami led 57-55 with 2:43 to play.
