Recap: Harvard vs. Boston College
Cambridge, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - Wesley Saunders paced all scorers with 21 points, as the Harvard Crimson made easy work of the Boston College Eagles, 73-58, in a non-conference clash at Lavietes Pavilion.
Saunders shot 8-of-10 from the field and 4-of-5 from the foul line while also swiping four steals for Harvard (11-1), which has won eight straight games. Kyle Casey tallied 11 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks for the home team, while Jonah Travis also scored 11.
For BC (4-9), losers of three straight and six of seven, Ryan Anderson registered 17 points and nine rebounds. Olivier Hanlan put up 13 points, while Eddie Odio and Joe Rahon scored 11 and 10, respectively.
Harvard opened up a commanding 33-13 lead with just over three minutes remaining in the first half and eventually took a 39-25 advantage into intermission after outshooting BC from the floor in the opening stanza, 52.2 percent to 26.9 percent.
The Eagles brought their deficit to just five with 7:33 left on an Anderson layup, but the Crimson effectively put the game away by reeling off an 11-2 run over the next four and a half minutes.
Harvard's bench outscored BC's reserves, 24-5. It also shot an impressive 23- of-28 from the free-throw line, compared to just 12-of-18 for the Eagles.Game Notes
