Recap: Missouri vs. Tennessee

Columbia, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - Behind a 24-point performance from Jabari Brown, the Missouri Tigers managed to hold off the Tennessee Volunteers, 75-70, in SEC action at Mizzou Arena.

Brown shot 8-of-12 from the field and 6-of-7 at the foul line for Missouri (18-7, 6-6 SEC), winners of back-to-back games. Earnest Ross scored 15 points and added four steals, while Johnathan Williams put up 10 points.

For Tennessee (15-10, 6-6), Jordan McRae poured in 31 points on 10-of-23 from the field, but he was only 3-of-11 from 3-point range. Josh Richardson contributed 16 points for the visitors and Jarnell Stokes had 13 points and eight boards.

Missouri shot a lofty 61.5 percent from the field in the first half and took a 41-37 lead into intermission. Tennessee shot 44.8 percent from the floor in the opening stanza but kept the game close thanks to a 10-of-11 showing at the free-throw line.

The Vols opened the second half up on a 5-0 run to take the lead, and the teams battled back-and-forth for most of the frame until the Tigers surged ahead by six, 71-65, with 47 seconds left thanks to a 9-3 run. Tennessee wouldn't go quietly, as it scored five unanswered points to make it a one- point game with 18 seconds left, but Missouri put the contest away by making its final four free-throw attempts.

Although both teams had just 11 turnovers, Missouri outscored Tennessee in points off those miscues, 23-15.
