Recap: Missouri vs. West Virginia

Columbia, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - Jordan Clarkson finished with 25 points to lead the Missouri Tigers over the West Virginia Mountaineers, 80-71, at Mizzou Arena as part of the inaugural Big 12/SEC Challenge.

For the Tigers (8-0), Jabari Brown finished with 18 points, Earnest Ross scored 16 and Tony Criswell grabbed 10 rebounds.

Juwan Staten led the Mountaineers (6-3) with 16 points while Gary Browne and Terry Henderson each scored 14 and Devin Williams chipped in with 10 points.

WVU was cold at the start, making just 27.6 percent of its field goal tries and missed all but one of its 11 3-point attempts in the first half. Missouri shot 48.3 percent from the field. Missouri scored the first nine points of the contest and went into the break ahead, 36-22.

After intermission, the Mountaineers found their range, connecting on 52.8 percent from the field in the second half. Unfortunately for them, so did the Tigers, who knocked down 59.1 percent of their field goal attempts in the half. Despite a late run, WVU could get no closer than seven points of the lead, as Missouri cruised to victory.

The Tigers controlled the boards, outrebounding the Mountaineers, 40-32. Missouri was effective on the fast break as well with a 16-6 scoring advantage.
