Recap: Georgia vs. Vanderbilt
Athens, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Rod Odom notched a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds for the Vanderbilt Commodores as they topped the Georgia Bulldogs, 59-54, in SEC play at Stegeman Coliseum.
Dai-Jon Parker netted 15 points for the Commodores (11-8, 3-4 SEC), who have won back-to-back games. Kyle Fuller contributed 13 points for the visitors.
Charles Mann poured in a game-high 20 points for the Bulldogs (10-9, 4-3), who have dropped two straight contests. Brandon Morris added 12 points.
The Bulldogs struggled mightily in the opening half, hitting just 5-of-25 from the field (.200), including a miserable 1-of-12 from 3-point range. The Commodores were not much better at 34.8 percent from the field, but it was good enough for a 27-21 halftime lead.
Both teams improved slightly in the second half, with the Commodores shooting 43.8 percent from the field to their opponent's 33.3 percent. On the heels of a 16-of-23 showing at the free-throw line, Vandy held onto the lead for the entire half, going up by as many as 10 points on two occasions.
Georgia perhaps relied too heavily on the perimeter game and only sank 4-of-23 from beyond the arc in the loss.Game Notes
