Recap: South Carolina vs. Ole Miss

Columbia, SC (SportsNetwork.com) - Anthony Perez poured in a career-high 22 points, including the game-winning 3-pointer with just over two minutes remaining, as the Ole Miss Rebels outlasted the South Carolina Gamecocks, 75-74, in an SEC showdown at Colonial Life Arena.

Perez, who saw extended action with both Aaron Jones and Sebastian Saiz fouling out of the game, shot 5-of-9 from the field and 10-of-12 from the free-throw line for Ole Miss (12-5, 3-1 SEC), which has won three of four. Marshall Henderson and Jarvis Summers both scored 19 points, with Summers dishing out six assists as well.

For South Carolina (7-10, 0-4), Sindarius Thornwell tallied 24 points and 11 rebounds, while Laimonas Chatkevicius netted 12.

Neither team shot greater than 38 percent from the field in the first half, but South Carolina built up a 37-27 lead at intermission after shooting 3-of-9 from 3-point range and 10-of-12 from the free-throw line.

Ole Miss opened up the second half on an 18-7 run to take a 45-44 lead with just under 15 minutes to play. The teams exchanged several leads down the stretch until Perez gave the Rebels a 71-68 advantage late in the frame. Leading by one in the waning seconds, Ole Miss turned the ball over on an in- bound play, but Thornwell's attempt at the buzzer did not fall.

Neither team took care of the basketball, with South Carolina committing 21 turnovers and Ole Miss coughing it up 20 times.
