Recap: Canisius vs. Elon

Buffalo, NY (Sports Network) - Harold Washington scored 19 points and was one of four Canisius players to score in double-figures as the Golden Griffins earned a 69-53 win over the Elon Phoenix in the first round of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament at the Koessler Athletic Center.

Washington shot 7-of-10 from the field for Canisius (19-13) while Jordan Heath had 13 points. Isaac Sosa managed 111 points with a trio of 3-pointers while Billy Baron had 10 points and seven assists but shot just 3-of-10 from the floor.

Ryley Beaumont recorded a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds but had six turnovers as Elon (21-12) ended it season with two consecutive losses and lost four of its last six after earning the Southern Conference North Division Champion honors in the regular season. Jack Isenbarger added 13 points with seven rebounds for the Phoenix.

Elon shot just 31.0 percent from the field in the first half and trailed 35-23 at halftime.

In the second half the Phoenix shot even worse at 28.2 percent as they were outscored 34-30.

Elon shot below 30.0 percent from the floor for the game and made only 9-of-34 shots taken from beyond the arc while also recorded 19 turnovers.
