Recap: Texas A&M vs. Washington St

Kansas City, MO (Sports Network) - Elston Turner nailed a three-pointer at the buzzer to give the Texas A&M Aggies a 55-54 victory over the Washington State Cougars in the consolation game of the CBE Hall of Fame Classic at the Sprint Center.

Ray Turner led the Aggies (3-2) with 14 points and Elston Turner added 10 points. Kourtney Roberson ripped down a game-high 12 rebounds.

For the Cougars (2-2), Dexter Kernich-Drew finished with 16 points and Brock Motum chipped in with 15 points.

Both teams struggled from the floor to open the contest. The Aggies shot just 30.4 percent from the field and missed all five of their three-point attempts in the first half. Washington State was marginally better, making 33.3 percent from the floor. The Cougars took a 21-16 advantage into halftime.

The Cougars got hot from the field in the second half, connecting on 63.2 percent of their field goal attempts, including 6-of-10 from three-point range. The Aggies shot just 41.4 percent but were able to stay close by making 5-of-11 three-point attempts and outscoring the Cougars 10-3 at the free-throw line after halftime. The Aggies trailed by five with just over five minutes to play before they used a 7-1 run to take the lead with less three minutes remaining. The Cougars went back ahead and led by two in the final seconds before Turner's game-winner.

Texas A&M outrebounded Washington State, 35-23. The Aggies also outscored the Cougars in the paint, 28-16.
