Recap: Ga Southern vs. Furman

Statesboro, GA (Sports Network) - C.J. Reed finished with 14 points and eight assists to lead the Georgia Southern Eagles to a 78-61 rout of the Furman Paladins in Southern Conference action at Hanner Fieldhouse.

Cleon Roberts chipped in 13 points for Georgia Southern (12-17, 6-10 SoCon) while Eric Ferguson and Tre Bussey each scored 11 points off the bench.

Colin Reddick paced Furman (6-21, 3-13) with 22 points on 10-of-15 from the field. Bobby Austin and Bryant Irwin notched 13 and 12 points, respectively, as the Paladins lost their eighth straight.

GSU led 5-0 early on and never trailed in the first half as they took a 30-27 advantage into the locker rooms. Bussey had eight of his 11 points in the opening 20 minutes.

Furman battled back and took its first lead of the contest at 50-48 with a pair of Austin free throws with 11:56 remaining in the game, but GSU scored the next 13 points to regain control. The Eagles shot 53.8 percent in the second half including 9-of-16 from behind the arc

With the win, GSU knots the all-time series with Furman at 24-24.
