Recap: Nebraska Omaha vs. South Dakota
Omaha, NE (Sports Network) - Brandon Bos had 23 points and 10 rebounds -- both career-highs -- as the South Dakota Coyotes cruised to a 95-72 win over the Nebraska Omaha Mavericks in Summit League play from Ralston Arena.
Trevor Gruis and Eric Robertson each scored 15 and Casey Kasperbauer added 14 points for the Coyotes (6-8, 2-1 SL), who won on the road for the first time in six tries this season.
John Karhoff tallied 18 points and seven rebounds for the fading Mavericks (3-12, 0-3), losers of seven of their last eight contests. Justin Simmons chipped in with 13 points in a losing effort, and Alex Phillips rounded out the double-digit scorers with 11 points.
South Dakota jumped out to an early 7-0 lead and never looked back. The Coyotes went on a 19-7 run, highlighted by two 3-pointers apiece from Kasperbauer and Robertson, to build a 32-15 with just over seven minutes to play in the opening frame. USD went into the locker room with a comfortable 52-29 halftime lead.
Omaha made it a 16-point game early in the second stanza, but the Coyotes answered with a 13-0 run to end any threat. They led by as many as 30 with eight minutes to play.
The Coyotes' 57.6-percent shooting from the field and 52.4-percent accuracy from beyond the arc both marked season-bests. They also enjoyed a 41-30 rebounding advantage in dominating Omaha from start to finish for their first road victory.Game Notes
