Recap: Western Carolina vs. Davidson

Cullowhee, NC (Sports Network) - Nik Cochran led the way with a career-high 32 points on 10-of-13 from the field, as the Davidson Wildcats took down the Western Carolina Catamounts, 79-74, in a Southern Conference bout at the Ramsey Center.

For the Wildcats (12-7, 7-1 SoCon), Jake Cohen added 15 points and seven rebounds and Tyler Kalinoski chipped in with 10 points as they won their third straight game.

Brandon Boggs and Trey Sumler each scored 22 points to lead the Catamounts (8-12, 5-3), while Tawaski King finished with 12 points.

Davidson shot the ball very well to start the contest, connecting on 55.6 percent of its field goal tries in the first half, including 6-of-10 from beyond the 3-point arc, as it took a comfortable 44-31 lead into halftime.

The Catamounts attempted their comeback in the second half by hitting on 53.1 percent from the field. Not to be outdone, the Wildcats shot 50 percent and knocked down 6-of-10 from 3-point range. Davidson saw its lead shrink to just one, 71-70, with 1:37 to play, but Cochran dropped in a 3-pointer to push the lead back to four and the Wildcats were able to hold on for the victory.

Davidson finished the game 12-of-21 from beyond the arc, which helped overcome 15 turnovers.
