Recap: Citadel vs. Wofford
Charleston, SC (Sports Network) - Mike Groselle scored a game-high 24 points and pulled down seven rebounds as The Citadel posted a 69-63 win over the Wofford Terriers in a Southern Conference clash at McAlister Field House.
Groselle shot an impressive 10-of-16 from the floor for the Bulldogs (5-15, 2-8 SoCon) as they snapped a two-game slide, but at the same time he was charged with seven turnovers which kept the hosts from pulling away earlier. P.J. Horgan registered a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, followed by Matt Van Scyoc with 10 points. Marshall Harris III responded with six points and 10 assists.
The Terriers (8-14, 2-7) were paced by Karl Cochran with 15 points, but he shot a mere 6-of-17 from the floor, including 3-of-12 behind the 3-point line, as the team bowed for the second straight game and fifth time in six tries. Spencer Collins accounted for 14 points and Lee Skinner 12 off the bench.
Wofford led by a basket early in the meeting, but the team went on to shoot just 36.7 percent from the floor in the first half, leading to a 33-30 deficit at the break. The Bulldogs converted 55.6 percent from the field through the first 20 minutes.
It was more of the same for The Citadel in the second half, the team converting 57.9 percent from the floor, in addition to connecting on 12-of-15 at the free-throw line in order to secure the six-point home win.
The Bulldogs, who turned the ball over 17 times on the night, held the visitors to just 5-of-24 shooting on the perimeter.Game Notes
