Recap: Citadel vs. Western Carolina

Charleston, SC (Sports Network) - Trey Sumler scored 17 points and dished out six assists to lead the Western Carolina Catamounts to a 72-55 win over The Citadel Bulldogs in Southern Conference action at McAlister Field House.

Tom Tankelewicz finished with 14 points for WCU (5-9, 3-0 SoCon), while Brandon Boggs scored 10. The Catamounts won the rebounding battle, 35-24.

Marshall Harris III and P.J. Horgan each scored 10 points to pace the Bulldogs (3-9, 0-2). All ten players to take the court for The Citadel scored at least two points.

The Catamounts were careful with the ball in the first half, turning it over just three times while forcing eight Citadel turnovers. They shot 47.8 percent from the floor and led 36-25 at halftime.

Harris III drilled a 3-pointer to cut The Citadel's deficit to 49-43 with a 6:33 remaining, but WCU responded with a 14-4 run to seal the win.

Despite the loss, The Citadel still leads the all-time series over WCU, 34-29.
