Recap: Ball State vs. Central Mich

Muncie, IN (Sports Network) - Jauwan Scaife pumped in 34 points to lead the Ball State Cardinals as they took down the Central Michigan Chippewas, 95-90, in a Mid-American Conference shootout at Worthen Arena.

Chris Bond and Jesse Berry chipped in 15 points each for Ball State (12-14, 4-9 MAC) as it collected its second win in a row. Majok Majok just missed a double-double for the Cardinals as he tallied 10 points, nine rebounds and three blocks.

Chris Fowler and Kyle Randall scored 18 points each for the Chippewas (9-18, 2-11). Fowler also dealt out 13 assists and Blake Hibbitts netted 16 points. John Simons and Austin Keel contributed 13 points apiece as CMU suffered its 10th loss in a row.

Ball State led by 12 on two separate occasions before it took a 49-39 lead into the intermission. The Cardinals shot 54.5 percent from the field including 7-of-12 from 3-point range while CMU connected on 57.7 percent of its field goal tries and also hit 7-of-12 from distance in the opening 20 minutes.

The Chippewas cooled off to hit on 48.5 percent of their attempts from the floor after the break. Ball State converted 57.9 percent of its field goal attempts and also 20-of-24 at the free-throw line in the second stanza to complete the wire-to-wire victory.

The Cardinals held a 33-27 edge in the rebounding battle and outscored the visitors, 26-14, at the charity stripe.
