Recap: Manhattan vs. Marist

Riverdale, NY (Sports Network) - Rhamel Brown logged 18 points and tied a career-high with seven blocks as the Manhattan Jaspers defeated the Marist Red Foxes, 65-53, in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference showdown at Draddy Gymnasium.

Although Brown was just 4-of-13 from the foul line, he made up for it by shooting 7-of-10 from the field for Manhattan (5-11, 3-3 MAAC), which had lost six of its previous seven contests. Shane Richards added 11 points in the triumph.

For Marist (4-13), Devin Price scored 21 points, while Chavaughn Lewis tallied a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. The loss for the Red Foxes is their seventh in a row.

Manhattan shot a lofty 68.2 percent from the field in the first half while holding Marist to just 31.8 percent shooting, as the Jaspers got out to a 40-26 advantage at the half.

The Jaspers shot only 6-of-17 from the field after the break (.353), but it made 12-of-20 from the free-throw line and the Red Foxes never got with seven points of the lead.

Marist shot just 31.9 percent from the field on the afternoon, and while it went to the foul line 37 times, it only connected on 21 free throws (.568).
