Cheney, WA (Sports Network) - Venky Jois recorded a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds as the Eastern Washington Eagles overcame a second half deficit to claim a 57-54 victory over the Idaho State Bengals in a Big Sky Conference tilt at Reese Court.

Martin Seiferth and Jeffrey Forbes scored nine points each for Eastern Washington (3-9, 1-1 Big Sky) as it ended a four-game losing streak.

The Bengals (1-9, 0-2) were led by Melvin Morgan, who scored 14 points on 5- of-12 shooting from the field. Ayibakuro Preh registered a double-double with 10 points and the same number of boards as Idaho State lost for the fourth consecutive time.

The Eagles led 29-16 with 3:11 left before the intermission, but Idaho State narrowed the deficit with a 6-0 run to close out the period. Eastern Washington built its 29-22 halftime lead by shooting 46.2 percent from the floor and limiting the visitors to 34.8 percent accuracy on their field goal tries.

The Bengals improved to shoot 40 percent from the field after the break while Eastern Washington cooled off to convert just 29.2 percent of its shots. Idaho State held a 46-41 advantage on the scoreboard with 6:25 left in regulation, but the Eagles scored eight unanswered points to go in front for good. Thomas Reuter made a pair of free throws with seven seconds left to make it a three- point game and Morgan missed a potentially game-tying three-point attempt on Idaho State's final possession.

Three-point shooting was the difference as EWU made 8-of-25 from distance while the Bengals drained only 3-of-16 from beyond the arc.
