Recap: South Florida vs. Georgetown

Tampa, FL (Sports Network) - Jawanza Poland scored 15 points to help the South Florida Bulls come from behind in the second half and defeat the Georgetown Hoyas, 61-58, in a Big East Conference showdown at the USF Sun Dome.

Anthony Collins added 14 points for USF (10-7, 1-4 Big East), while Javontae Hawkins netted 12. The win for the Bulls snapped a season-long four-game losing streak.

For Georgetown (12-4, 2-3), Otto Porter, Jr. shot 8-of-14 from the field for 21 points. D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera chipped in 16 points, while Nate Lubick had eight points and 10 rebounds.

Georgetown shot a lofty 60 percent from the field in the first half as it got out to a 31-23 lead at intermission. USF made only 31 percent of its field goal attempts in the opening 20 minutes, including a lowly 1-of-14 from 3- point range.

The Bulls came out hot in the second half, and following an Anthony Collins 3- pointer with 12:28 remaining, they took a 43-41 lead. It remained a single- possession contest down the stretch, and the Hoyas made their deficit just one, 59-58, on a Smith-Rivera bucket with 2:20 to play. Those would be Georgetown's final points however, and a pair of Collins free throws in the waning second sealed the USF victory.

USF scored 20 points off of 15 Georgetown turnovers, while it committed just five miscues itself.
