Recap: Ark-Little Rock vs. Tulsa

Little Rock, AR (Sports Network) - John Gillon scored a game-high 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lift the Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans to a 72-65 victory over the Tulsa Golden Hurricane in a non-conference tilt at the Jack Stephens Center.

James White added 12 points in 20 minutes off the bench for UALR (8-4), which won for the fourth time in five outings. Josh Hagins chipped in 11 points.

D'Andre Wright paced Tulsa (6-4) with 15 points and James Woodard recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 boards. The loss snapped the Golden Hurricane's two-game winning streak.

The Trojans got off to a good start and managed to build a 23-12 lead just over eight minutes after tip-off. UALR's bench outscored Tulsa's reserves, 18-8, in the opening half which sent the hosts into the intermission with a 39-28 advantage.

After trailing 61-46 with 6:12 left in regulation, Tulsa went on a 10-1 run to cut the deficit to just four points. However, the Golden Hurricane was unable to make it a one possession game. UALR held on for the win despite shooting 36.4 percent from the floor and missing nine free throws in the final 20 minutes.

Tulsa enjoyed a 40-37 advantage in the rebounding battle, but it was unable to overcome its 18 turnovers which the Trojans converted into 15 points.
