Recap: Stanford vs. Washington St

Stanford, CA (Sports Network) - Aaron Bright came off the bench to score 21 points as the Stanford Cardinal defeated the Washington State Cougars, 78-67, in Pac-12 Conference action at Maples Pavilion.

Bright shot 3-of-4 from 3-point range and 8-of-8 from the foul line for Stanford (10-6, 1-2 Pac-12), which snapped a two-game losing skid. Dwight Powell tallied his fourth double-double of the year with 16 points and a 11 rebounds, adding four blocks for good measure. Chasson Randle also put up 16 points for the home team.

For Washington State (9-6, 0-2), Brock Motum scored a season-high 29 points on 11-of-24 field goal shooting. Mike Ladd chipped in 15 points, while Brett Boese added 10 points for the Cougars, who had won their previous four games.

Stanford opened up a 27-23 halftime lead by shooting 45 percent from the floor in the opening 20 minutes. Washington State made just 31 percent of its field goal attempts, but it kept the game close by attempting nine more shots than the Cardinal.

The Huskies held a 57-56 lead with less than six minutes remaining, but the Cardinal closed the game out on a 22-8 run to capture the victory.

Stanford shot 92.3 percent from the foul line, draining 24-of-26, while Washington State was only 6-of-9 from the stripe.
