Recap: Rice vs. Memphis

Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Joe Jackson registered a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds to push the Memphis Tigers to a 77-51 rout of the Rice Owls in a Conference USA bout at Tudor Fieldhouse.

Antonio Barton also tallied 13 points for Memphis (13-3, 3-0 C-USA), which picked up its seventh win in a row. Adonis Thomas and Tarik Black each scored 12 points and Shaq Goodwin chipped in 10 points.

Austin Ramljak paced Rice (3-13, 0-3) with 14 points while Max Guercy provided 13 points. Tamir Jackson had a rough outing, as he went 2-of-10 from the field to produce eight points with four turnovers in the Owls' sixth consecutive loss.

Rice played tough in the opening half as the contest was tied, 20-20, with 4:15 left before the break. Memphis used a 7-0 run to create some distance on the scoreboard and took a 31-24 lead into halftime. The Owls went into the intermission trailing by just seven points despite shooting 30.4 percent from the floor in the first half.

The Tigers coasted to the double-digit decision as they knocked down 68.2 percent of their field goal attempts and converted 13-of-18 at the charity stripe in the final 20 minutes.

Memphis held a sizeable 41-20 edge in the rebounding battle and outscored the hosts, 30-14, in the paint en route to the victory.
