Recap: West Virginia vs. Texas Tech

Morgantown, WV (Sports Network) - Thanks in large part to a career-high 25 points from Deniz Kilicli, the West Virginia Mountaineers fended off a late comeback attempt by the Texas Tech Red Raiders to win, 66-64, in a Big 12 Conference showdown at WVU Coliseum.

Kilicli shot 9-of-11 from the field and 7-of-14 from the foul line for WVU (13-12, 6-6 Big 12), which has won four of five. Eron Harris added 15 points for the home team.

For Texas Tech (9-14, 2-10), Jaye Crockett tallied a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds off the bench, while Dusty Hannahs (12 points), Jamal Williams (11 points), Jordan Tolbert (10 points) and Josh Gray (eight assists) were also effective. The Red Raiders extended their season-long losing streak to six games.

Neither team shot greater than 41 percent from the field in the first half. WVU also struggled from the foul line (11-of-20), but Texas Tech was just 3- of-5 from the stripe, and the Mountaineers carried a 32-25 advantage into halftime.

The Mountaineers held an eight-point lead with under three minutes left in the game, but the Red Raiders mounted an 8-2 run, capped off by a Hannahs 3- pointer with 48 seconds left, to bring their deficit to two, 66-64. After an empty possession by WVU, Texas Tech had one last opportunity, but a Gray 3- point attempt at the buzzer hit off the front iron.

WVU held a 39-29 advantage on the boards and a 24-11 edge at the foul line.
