Recap: Oklahoma vs. Kansas State

Norman, OK (Sports Network) - Angel Rodriguez sank the game-winning free throws with five seconds left in regulation and Sam Grooms missed a desperation three at the buzzer, as No. 18 Kansas State edged Oklahoma, 52-50, on Saturday.

Will Spradling scored 12 points and Martavious Irving added 10 points off the bench for Kansas State (17-4, 6-2 Big 12), which was coming off a win against Texas on Wednesday.

"There is definitely relief after a win like that, especially on the road," Rodriguez said. "We knew it was going to be a tough one. We never thought it was going to be easy."

Romero Osby had 13 points and seven rebounds for the Sooners (14-6, 5-3), who have lost three of their past five games.

Kansas State led 28-23 at halftime, thanks to eight points from Irving. Rodney McGruder scored a jumper early in the second half to extend their lead 30-23. Both teams then suffered a scoring drought before Osby began a 8-3 run for the Sooners.

Spradling answered back for Kansas State with five unanswered points, beginning an 11-4 run to give them a 44-36 lead with 5:23 left.

Down 50-42 with two minutes remaining, Oklahoma mounted a comeback, as a layup by Osby started an 8-0 run and was capped off by Grooms scoring five straight points to tie the game at 50-50 with 13 seconds left. Eight seconds later, Oklahoma's Amath M'Baye fouled Rodriguez, allowing him to make the free throws and give Kansas State the win.

Both teams struggled offensively, shooting under 40 percent from the field. Oklahoma, in particular, had trouble from 3-point range, shooting just 3- for-14 for the game.

"Tough game from start to finish, really physical time from the offensive end," Oklahoma coach Lon Kruger said. "Kansas State did a great job; I thought they were into it and dictated for most of the night with their defense. We had trouble getting separation and trouble scoring. In the end I thought we really fought hard."

Game Notes

Osby was the only Sooner to reach double figures in scoring ... Oklahoma has yet to beat a ranked team in four tries this season ... Kansas State has won three of the last four games against Oklahoma at home.
