Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - Joe Coleman scored 15 points, leading three starters in double figures, as the Minnesota Golden Gophers posted an 82-56 win over the Toledo Rockets in non-conference action at Williams Arena.

Coleman added six rebounds and three steals for the Golden Gophers (2-0), but at the same time he was also charged with eight turnovers. Austin Hollins responded with 13 points and Rodney Williams 12 points to go along with eight boards and four steals.

The Rockets (0-2) were paced by Rian Pearson who dropped in a game-high 18 points on 7-of-17 shooting from the floor, followed by Nathan Boothe with 13 points and seven boards. Julius Brown accounted for nine points and seven assists, but he too had trouble with turnovers, recorded seven miscues.

Minnesota scored the first points of the contest and never looked back as the defense for the hosts limited Toledo to a mere 8-of-36 (.222) shooting from the floor and 2-of-13 behind the three-point line in the first half, en route to a 48-22 lead at the break.

In the second half the Gophers cooled to 41.4 percent from the field, but still they claimed the comfortable victory.

Minnesota dominated on the glass, 51-27, and that helped the squad to overcome 19 turnovers.
