Recap: Iowa vs. Indiana

Iowa City, IA (Sports Network) - Cody Zeller poured in a game-high 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds as No. 5 Indiana held off Iowa, 69-65, on Monday at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Victor Oladipo netted 14 points on 6-of-10 from the floor and pulled down 10 boards, while Will Sheehey contributed 13 points and five rebounds off the bench for Indiana (13-1, 1-0 Big Ten), which snapped a four-game losing streak against the Hawkeyes in Iowa City.

Christian Watford gave 11 points and eight boards in the triumph.

"We know this is a huge win for us coming in here," Indiana coach Tom Crean said of winning at Iowa. "I haven't seen a lot of teams in the Big Ten play a lot of different games, but I like watching Iowa play. They play so hard. They're competitive."

Aaron White paced the Hawkeyes (11-3, 0-1) with 15 points and six rebounds, while Roy Devyn Marble added 14 points and nine rebounds. Marble struggled mightily from the floor, hitting just 1-of-14 field goal attempts, but made 12-of-13 from the free throw line.

Mike Gesell finished with 13 points for Iowa, which had a six-game winning streak snapped.

Trailing 57-54 with 6:58 to play, Zach McCabe buried a jumper to move the Hawkeyes within one, but Sheehey answered with a corner 3-ball for Indiana, making it 59-56 with 5:17 on the clock.

Marble sank two of his 13 free throw attempts with 2:05 to go, pulling Iowa within 63-60, but Oladipo came up with a huge basket for Indiana on its next trip down the floor when he hauled in a Zeller miss and put it back to make it a two-possession game with 1:03 left.

Josh Oglesby nailed a deep trey with seven ticks left to make it 68-65, but the Hawkeyes were forced to foul, and sent Watford to the charity stripe with five seconds left.

Watford missed his first attempt, but made the all-important second shot to seal the win for the Hoosiers.

Early on, Indiana jumped out to a quick 7-2 lead, but the Hawkeyes roared back with a 14-4 burst to grab a 16-11 advantage with 9:52 on the first-half clock.

Indiana answered with a lengthy run of its own, outscoring Iowa 18-4 over the next five-plus minutes of action to move ahead, 29-20 with 3:11 to go and the visitors took a 33-25 lead into the locker room.
