Recap: Loyola-Chicago vs. Miss State

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Devon Turk dropped in a game-high 21 points to lead the Loyola-Chicago Ramblers to a 59-51 victory over the Mississippi State Bulldogs in a non-league clash at Gentile Arena.

Christian Thomas added 16 points for the Ramblers (7-3). Ben Averkamp had a game-high nine rebounds.

For the Bulldogs (3-6), Fred Thomas led the way with 14 points while Roquez Johnson chipped in with 13 points.

In the first half, the Ramblers connected on 46.2 percent of their field goal attempts, including 6-of-12 from beyond the 3-point arc, as they took a 34-20 advantage into halftime. The Bulldogs struggled, hitting just 29.2 percent from the field, but they were able to make 4-of-10 from 3-point range.

Mississippi State improved its shooting in the second half, making 45.8 percent of its field goal attempts, though the Bulldogs missed all but one of their seven three-point attempts. Loyola had trouble finding the basket after halftime, shooting just 36 percent, but managed to maintain a double-digit lead for almost the entire half, as the Ramblers coasted to the easy victory.

The Ramblers dominated on the boards, outrebounding the Bulldogs 40-28.
