Recap: Kentucky vs. LSU

Lexington, KY (Sports Network) - Alex Poythress registered his first career double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Kentucky Wildcats to a 75-70 victory over the LSU Tigers in an SEC matchup at Rupp Arena.

Archie Goodwin added 15 points as Kentucky (13-6, 4-2 SEC) avoided losing consecutive games for the first time since SEC play began. Ryan Harrow chipped in 11 points, and Nerlens Noel filled the stat sheet with 10 points, eight boards and six blocks.

Johnny O'Bryant III had a big afternoon for LSU (10-7, 1-5) with 21 points and 12 boards. Anthony Hickey had 15 points and three steals, while Andre Stringer scored 13 points on 5-of-7 from the field.

Kentucky knocked down just 1-of-7 attempts from behind the arc in the first half but outrebounded LSU, 20-14, and shot 57.6 percent from the floor as it went into halftime ahead, 42-31.

LSU made things interesting late when it used a 15-6 run to cut the Wildcats' lead to 71-70 with three seconds remaining. Kyle Wiltjer stepped to the line and knocked down two free throws to give Kentucky a three-point advantage. Goodwin then intentionally fouled Hickey with two seconds remaining and the LSU point guard missed the front end of the ensuing one-and-one, securing a Kentucky victory.

Kentucky controlled the paint by outscoring LSU down low, 46-32, and outrebounding the Tigers, 39-26.
