Recap: Richmond vs. George Mason

Richmond, VA (Sports Network) - Sherrod Wright hit a buzzer beating 3- pointer to give the George Mason Patriots a 67-64 victory over the Richmond Spiders in the Governor's Holiday Hoops Classic at Richmond Coliseum.

Wright scored 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field, including 4-of-5 from 3-point range, for George Mason (7-4), which has won two of its last three games. Corey Edwards added 13 points and recorded the assist on the game-winning shot.

Darien Brothers scored 20 points for the Spiders (9-4), who lost their second in a row after a five-game win streak. Brothers was 5-of-7 from beyond the arc and pulled down five rebounds. Derrick Williams tallied 14 points and seven rebounds in the loss.

Richmond led 41-32 at halftime after knocking down 8-of-11 3-point attempts in the first half.

The Patriots came out strong in the second half and after trailing by 12 points at the 7:31 mark, closed out the game on an 18-3 run which ended with Wright's game winner.

A layup by Cedrick Lindsay for Richmond tied the game at 64-64 with 20 seconds remaining. A foul by the Spiders stopped the clock with five seconds left, giving the Patriots one last shot. Wright pulled up for the last shot to give George Mason the come-from-behind win in dramatic fashion.

The Patriots dominated inside, outscoring the Spiders 26-16 in the paint.
