Recap: Northeastern vs. La Salle

Boston, MA (Sports Network) - Tyreek Duren hit the game-winning field goal with two seconds remaining as the La Salle Explorers escaped with a 66-64 road victory over the Northeastern Huskies in non-conference action at Matthews Arena.

Duren finished with 12 points and four steals for La Salle (6-1), which extended its winning streak to five games. Ramon Galloway paced all scorers with 24 points, and Jerrell Wright added 13 points.

For Northeastern (4-5), Reggie Spencer shot 8-of-11 from the field for 16 points while also hauling in seven rebounds. Zach Stahl scored 12 points, Joel Smith netted 11, and Dinko Marshavelski chipped in 10 for the Huskies, who have lost four in a row.

Both teams were hot from the field in the first half, with Northeastern making 66.7 percent of its shot attempts and La Salle shooting 50 percent from the floor. The Explorers made four three-pointers in the opening frame, and they took a 36-34 lead into intermission.

La Salle led by as many as seven in the second half, but Northeastern came back to tie the game, 64-64, with 1:19 left in the game on a Quincy Ford jumper. The teams exchanged empty possessions in the final minute before Duren drained the game-winner in the waning seconds. The Huskies had one last opportunity but a Ford jumper at the buzzer did not fall.

Although Northeastern shot a lofty 54.9 percent from the field in the contest, it was just 3-of-12 from three-point range.
