Recap: Wake Forest vs. Maryland

Winston-Salem, NC (Sports Network) - Dez Wells shot 11-of-12 from the floor and led all scorers with 23 points, as the Maryland Terrapins defeated the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, 67-57, in Atlantic Coast Conference action at Lawrence Joel Coliseum.

Wells was the only player in double figures for Maryland (20-9, 8-8 ACC), although Alex Len headlined a strong defensive charge with 10 rebounds and a pair of blocks to help the Terrapins notch their 20th win of the season.

C.J. Harris had 19 points and Devin Thomas scored 17 for the Demon Deacons (12-16, 5-11), who have lost four of their last five games.

Wake Forest was leading 15-11 midway through the first half but was unable to sustain much of anything on the offensive end. The Demon Deacons went on to make only 6-of-23 field goals (.261) in the opening frame as they trailed, 30-24 at the break.

Maryland put together an 8-0 spurt midway through the second half and never trailed again the rest of the way. The Terps, who shot 50 percent from the floor over the final 20 minutes, led by as many as 10 with 5:24 remaining.

The Demon Deacons were out-played in nearly ever facet, as they shot just 32.7 percent from the floor, committed 18 turnovers and lost the rebounding battle, 41-30.
