Recap: Virginia Tech vs. Georgia Tech

Blacksburg, VA (Sports Network) - Marcus Georges-Hunt and Kammeon Holsey each collected 13 points and nine rebounds, as the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets defeated the Virginia Tech Hokies, 64-54, in Atlantic Coast Conference play at Cassell Coliseum.

The Yellow Jackets (13-9, 3-7 ACC) earned their first-ever victory in Blacksburg in eight tries, and it also marked the team's first road victory of the season.

Erick Green, the nation's leading scorer, tallied a game-high 28 points for the Hokies (11-12, 2-8), who have dropped six in a row and 10 of their last 12 outings overall. Robert Brown chipped in with 10 points, although he shot just 4-of-16 from the floor and turned the ball over four times.

Holsey scored all 13 of his points in the first half, as he nearly matched the Hokies' scoring total through 20 minutes. Virginia Tech was held to 6-of-29 shooting from the floor (.207) in the opening frame and trailed, 37-18, at the break. The Hokies missed 20 of their first 23 shots.

Georgia Tech stretched its lead to 25 at the 16:27 mark of the second half before VT began to show signs of life. The Hokies rallied to make it a 60-52 game on a bucket by Green with 31.6 seconds remaining, but they would draw no closer the rest of the way.

The Yellow Jackets controlled the boards, as they held a 49-35 rebounding advantage for the game. The win snapped GT's four-game losing streak to the Hokies in the head-to-head series.
