Recap: Fairfield vs. Manhattan

Fairfield, CT (Sports Network) - Maurice Barrow scored 18 points to lead the Fairfield Stags over the Manhattan Jaspers 69-57 in the second round of the Postseason Tournament at Alumni Hall.

Keith Matthews added 15 points and six rebounds, with five coming on the offensive glass for Fairfield (21-14) which also got nine points, five rebounds and seven assists from Rakim Sanders.

George Beamon finished with 16 points and was one of five players with five rebounds for Manhattan (21-13) which also got a double-double from Emmy Andujar who scored 11 points and brought down 12 rebounds.

The first half was a back-and-forth affair that Fairfield got the better of leading 38-37 at the break. The Stags connected on 51.5 percent of its shots in the first half while Manhattan was right behind at 48.4 percent.

Fairfield stretched out it's lead by hitting an even 50.0 percent shooting over the last twenty minutes. The key stretch in the game came with Fairfield leading by just two, 53-51, with 9:25 remaining. The Stags then ripped off a 15-2 run to take it's largest lead of the game 68-53 with just under four minutes left on the clock.

The Stags forced 20 turnovers which they converted into 21 points while also outscoring Manhattan by a 54-42 margin on points in the paint. The Jasper won the battle of the boards by a 35-32 advantage.

Fairfield will take on Robert Morris in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.
