Recap: Ole Miss vs. Illinois State

Oxford, MS (Sports Network) - Tyler Brown poured in 26 points and Nic Moore scored 24 points and handed out 10 assists to lead the seventh-seeded Illinois State Redbirds to a 96-83 win in overtime over the second-seeded Ole Miss Rebels in the first round of the National Invitational Tournament at Tad Smith Coliseum.

Jackie Carmichael had a double-double as well scoring 13 points and bringing in 10 rebounds for Illinois State (21-13) which will take on third seed Stanford in the second round.

LaDarius White had 25 points. Terrance Henry dumped in 21 while Murphy Holloway and Jarvis Summers each put in 16 for Ole Miss (20-14). Summers also handed out a game-high 12 assists.

Illinois State didn't seem to miss in the first half connecting on 60.0 percent of it's shots including 9-of-13 from three point range to take a 44-32 lead into the locker room. Ole Miss lagged behind by converting on only 39.3 percent of its shots.

The Redbirds remained at 60.0 percent shooting in the second half but had only 12 total field goals while Ole Miss connected on 21-of-37 shots from the field over the last twenty minutes. The Rebels actually led by a point, 84-83, with under 30 seconds to play but a free throw from Anthony Cousins with seven seconds left tied the game at 84-84 and sent it into extra time.

Illinois State ripped off a 9-3 run to open the extra period and held on for the win.

The Redbirds hit a staggering 17-of-23 shots from beyond the arc in the game including a 7-for-8 effort in the second half.
