Recap: Penn vs. Butler
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Khyle Marshall recorded a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds as the Butler Bulldogs topped the Penn Quakers, 63-53, in the quarterfinal round of the College Basketball Invitational at The Palestra.
Chrishawn Hopkins scored a game-high 15 points for Butler (22-14), while Ronald Nored and Roosevelt Jones netted 12 points apiece. Nored also dealt out six assists for the Bulldogs, who advanced to play Pittsburgh in semifinal round with the victory.
Miles Cartwright led the Quakers (20-13) with 12 points while Zack Rosen contributed 11 points.
The Bulldogs took a 20-17 lead into the intermission after a low-scoring opening frame. Butler shot only 26.7 percent from the floor, while the Quakers made just 24.1 percent of their field goals in the first half.
Both sides heated up after the break. The Quakers shot 52 percent from the floor, but made just 2-of-10 from distance in the second half. Butler made 52.2 percent of its field goal attempts and converted 19-of-24 from the charity stripe in the final 20 minutes to earn the decision.
Butler held a decisive 44-28 edge in the rebounding battle.Game Notes
