The Red Wolves took a slight 31-28 advantage into the intermission after they shot 44.4 percent from the field. Middle Tennessee stayed close by hitting 42.3 percent of its field goal attempts in the first half.

Arkansas State cooled off a little bit after the break, as it shot 42.9 percent from the field. The Blue Raiders improved to 44 percent shooting in the second half, but suffered an upset after they converted just 8-of-17 at the charity stripe. Middle Tennessee missed five free throws in the final minute, including one by Dendy which would have tied it up after his basket brought the Blue Raiders within one point with 12.9 seconds left.
