Recap: Bowling Green vs. Central Mich
Bowling Green, OH (Sports Network) - Austin McBroom scored 20 points as the Central Michigan Chippewas downed the Bowling Green Falcons 54-53 in a Mid- American Conference Tournament first-round game at the Stroh Center.
Derek Jackson scored 12 points for the 11th-seeded Chippewas (11-20), who will face seventh-seed Toledo in the quarterfinals. Tre Ziegler grabbed eight rebounds, while McBroom handed out six assists.
Dee Brown scored 20 points to lead the sixth-seeded Falcons (16-15). Jordon Crawford finished with 13 points, while Scott Thomas pulled down nine rebounds and dealt out six assists.
Bowling Green led 26-20 at halftime after going 11-of-26 from the floor in the first half. The hosts led by as many as nine in the opening stanza.
Central Michigan moved in front by shooting 11-of-21 from the floor in the second half, including 5-of-6 from long range. Torian Oglesby followed his own miss for the Falcons and put in what would have been the game-winning basket as the final horn sounded, but the officials ruled that the basket came too late. The call was confirmed after an official review, giving Central Michigan the win.
