Recap: Loyola-Maryland vs. Siena
Springfield, MA (Sports Network) - Erik Etherly scored 21 points to lead the second-seeded Loyola-Maryland Greyhounds to a 70-60 win in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference semifinals over the sixth seeded Siena Saints at the MassMutual Center.
Shane Walker and Robert Olson each put in 12 points and Justin Drummond added 10 for Loyola-Maryland (23-8) which will face fourth-seeded Fairfield in the title game.
Kyle Downey led Siena (14-17) with 17 points while Owen Wignot put in 16 and O.D. Anosike added 13. Anosike was the nation's leading rebounder this season but had only five in the game.
Siena opened up the game on a 14-6 run but Loyola-Maryland didn't panic and went into the locker room leading 28-23 by shooting 48.1 percent from the floor and holding Siena to just 34.5 percent.
In the second half both teams improved with the Saints hitting on 59.3 percent of its shots and the Greyhounds at 53.8 percent. Siena's superior second half shooting didn't matter as Loyola-Maryland outscored Siena 15-0 from beyond the arc in the final twenty minutes to reach its first title game since winning its only conference tournament in the 1994 season.
The Greyhounds outrebounded the Saints by a 34-25 margin and overcame an 18-6 deficit on points off of turnovers.Game Notes
