Recap: Alabama vs. South Carolina

New Orleans, LA (Sports Network) - Freshman guard Trevor Lacey scored 15 points to lead Alabama in a 63-57 victory over South Carolina in an SEC Tournament first-round matchup.

JaMychal Green added 12 points and seven rebounds for the fifth-seeded Crimson Tide (21-10), who will take on fourth-seeded Florida in a Friday quarterfinal

Damien Leonard and Brenton Williams both posted 13 points for the 12th-seeded Gamecocks (10-21), who ended their season with six straight losses.

An 11-1 run in the second half erased a 50-40 deficit and pulled South Carolina even at 51-51 after Williams hit the second of back-to-back treys with 6:41 remaining.

Green hit the go-ahead jumper just over a minute later and Alabama held on from there.

The Crimson Tide sank 5-of-6 free throws in the final 30 seconds to lock up the game.

Alabama led 37-26 at the break thanks in part to an 8-0 run which snapped a 13-13 tie.

An R.J. Slawson jumper brought the Gamecocks within 42-40 after six minutes elapsed in the second half, but Lacey scored four of Alabama's eight straight thereafter for the 10-point spread with 10:28 to play.
